Kevin Grix

As Chief Executive and Chief Ombudsman at Dispute Resolution Ombudsman Ltd, Kevin leads the Dispute Resolution Ombudsman, Furniture and Home Improvement Ombudsman and Rail Ombudsman. Appointed in 2008, Kevin’s leading expertise in dispute resolution spans several industries, and his varied roles – including serving on the Board of Directors at the Ombudsman Association – give him insight into the best practices across the dispute resolution landscape. He also serves as the Chief Ombudsman at the Independent Football Ombudsman, a scheme that was established by the football authorities (The Football Association, The Premier League, and The Football League) to receive and adjudicate on complaints that have not been resolved at an earlier stage.

Kevin was previously employed as in-house legal counsel at a global certification and testing business, and in 2005 he was part of a team of advisers that set up the University of Hertfordshire Law Clinic, a pro-bono legal advice centre that served the local community. Additionally, he has worked in both the retail and financial sectors.

Kevin and his colleague, Deputy Chief Ombudsman Judith Turner, are the co-authors of Volume 28 of Atkin's Court Forms and Precedents on Ombudsman schemes in England and Wales. Published by LexisNexis in 2020, it forms part of the UK’s only encyclopedia of civil litigation forms, precedents and procedure and is a leading authority on the process that should be followed by complainants.

Examples of Kevin’s work include disputes of widely varying values around works to property and where loss of earnings are cited, in which conciliated and adjudicated outcomes have been achieved following review of evidence submitted by the parties.
